Stranded #8

If I was stranded on a deserted island and could only bring 3 things, I would bring my cat, an endless supply of Nutella, and all my Hayaou Miyazaki movies.

I would first bring my cat, because he is amazing. And he is my little lovebug, and he completes me. He is so so so so loving and great, and i just can't imagine life without him. He is my companion through thick and thin.

The second thing I would bring, would be an endless supply of Nutella. Nutella is easily the best creation man has given the world, and is one very near and dear to my heart. Its cocoa hazelnut goodness is almost too much to explain at times, the creaminess: overwhelming. All in all, Nutella is easily one of my "addiction foods".

Thirdly, I would bring all my Hayaou Miyazaki movies. These are my prized possession because he is my most favorite director and writer of all time, ever. Some titles you may be familiar with are: Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbour Totoro, Howls Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Ponyo. His movies move me to tears with their beauty, and were a key element in how I grew up.

Charity #6

If I was given 1 million dollars to donate to any charity of my choice, it would have to be to the To Write Love On Her Arms foundation. To Write Love on Her Arms is a "non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.  TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery." They make it very clear that rescue is possible. I've been following this charity group since I was in 7th grade.

This foundation is so remarkable, and incredible, and supports something I truly believe in with all my heart. People should NEVER have to struggle with self-injury, addiction, depression or any of that in silence. No one should ever have to feel alone in this world due to what they're going through. You need to know that rescue is possible, that freedom is possible, that God is still in the business of redemption.  We're seeing it happen.  We're seeing lives change as people get the help they need.  People sitting across from a counselor for the first time.  People stepping into treatment.  In desperate moments, people calling a suicide hotline.  We know that the first step to recovery is the hardest to take.  We want to say here that it's worth it, that your life is worth fighting for, that it's possible to change. Every single one of us is loved, and everyone needs to know that.

Politics #5

I follow politics to an extent, but often become extremely discouraged while doing so. Simply because of my views on the government and how things work within it. I dont really know what i would identify myself as, in terms of political party standpoint. Neither of my parents are registered to vote, nor have they ever voted I think, and Im not too sure if they actually side with a specific political party. Some social issues that are important to me are: Funding for schools, the debate on abortion (im personally pro-choice), healthcare, and other things. If I were to pick the next president, it would be Ron Paul, Because he would actually get this country back on track. He believes in freedom and equality for all, freedom of choice on certain topics, among other things. And I believe he would put an end to the corruption and conspiracy in our government.

Favorite Musician #2

I have a very wide taste in music genre, ranging from metal and punk, to old school soul and funk. Hip hop and rap to acoustic. But if I had to pick a favorite artist, I think it would have to be Mayer Hawthorne.

Almost indistinguishable from the soul music of the  60's and whatnot, Mayer Hawthorne is bent on not recreating the "good old days" but creating the "new good days". With upbeat soul and funk feel, he tackles topics such as falling in love, falling out of love, finding out about an unfaithful lover, and much more. His voice as smooth as slow-churned vanilla ice cream, and lyrics so relatable you'd think he wrote them just for you, he never fails to evoke some sort of emotion in me. It also helps that he's pretty handsome as well.

All in all, he is an incredible artist and I ADORE him. I have a strong feeling he'll be staying in the music scene for a long, long time. With such talent and support, I know he will go far.

Summer Vacation #1

Summer is a time of going to the beach, hanging out with friends, and being care free. Unfortunately these werent exactly the perameters of my summer vacation. Mine consisted of summer school homework, eating, researching my future college courses, and video games. The epitome of hermit-lifestyle.

My daily routine consisted of : wake up, shower, eat, do homework, eat some more, maybe nap, and do homework. And do it all over again the next day, with a few exceptions here and there. I finished the video games Fable 1, and 2, started Dead Space, and continued on my quest for Pokemon in Heart Gold. I ate so much food this summer, it's almost ridiculous, but somehow managed to lose about 6 pounds. I took two classes in Access summer school this summer, as well as finished 7 credits worth of P.E. packets. I also looked into the course Ill be taking next year at Cypress College.

All in all, id say my summer vacation was pretty good. I got a lot done in terms of school work, and future school planning. And I got to just kick back and really genuinely relax and enjoy my break.
